CDC Director Robert Redfield has sent out a warning. Over the next few months, Covid-19 will kill at least 3,000 people EVERY SINGLE DAY. That is a lot of people. In context, 2,977 people died on 9/11 and 2,403 people during the attack on Pearl Harbor. At this rate, it will not be long before the total number of U.S. deaths resulting from Covid-19 will reach 300,000.
300,000 Covid-19 deaths are a very big deal considering that the 1918 global pandemic is estimated to have killed somewhere between 500,000 and 850,000 Americans. Although many people have spread false information claiming the current global pandemic is not real, or that it is exaggerated, the death rate for Covid-19 is rapidly catching up to the devastation caused by the 1918 pandemic. Even with the vaccine, Covid-19 will remain a danger for at least another year. People will continue to get sick and die.
At this stage of the pandemic, the only thing that Americans can do is take precautions. As always, those precautions include wearing masks, keeping at least 6 feet apart from others, and staying home. It will also mean that Christmas celebrations are a bad idea this year. The safest way to celebrate Christmas will be to limit your party to the members of your household. It will suck, but next year will be better because everyone can be together again.
