Are you surprised that President Trump has a secret China bank account? You shouldn’t be. You see, Trump is a terrible poker player with the most obvious ‘tell’ possible. We have come to learn that almost anything he accuses Biden of is something he does himself. So when Trump started yelling that China wants Biden, people knew where to start digging.

It turns out that Trump had unsuccessfully attempted to license his name to hotel properties in China, but it wasn’t until he became President that his trademark applications finally started winning approval. That alone is bad enough, but there is more. There is always more when it comes to Trump.
Much of Trump’s campaign messaging is anti-China, and accusing Biden of being ‘soft on China’. It turns out, however, that it is Trump who has been cozying up to China in his amateur attempts to work out a trade deal. If the John Bolton book is to be believed, Trump was easily manipulated by President Xi of China. After some praise from Xi, Trump seemed to be agreeable to anything that Xi suggested:
Xi finally shifted to substance, describing China’s positions: The U.S. would roll back Trump’s existing tariffs, and both parties would refrain from competitive currency manipulation and agree not to engage in cyber thievery (how thoughtful). The U.S. should eliminate Trump’s tariffs, Xi said, or at least agree to forgo new ones. “People expect this,” said Xi, and I feared at that moment that Trump would simply say yes to everything Xi had laid out.
John Bolton
According to Bolton, the result of that meeting with Xi was that Trump offered to reduce all tariffs if only China would buy more US farm produce –so that Trump could maintain his popularity with farmers. Wow, that is pretty soft on China.

The only silver lining to this story is that Trump waffling on his tariffs might have relieved some of the downward pressure on the economy. As Trump should know, trade wars and high tariffs have a way of stagnating the economy. Just ask those farmers whose votes Trump was worried about.
