Trump continues to fail on Covid-19

Trump continues to fail on Covid-19

Dr Fauci warned us. He told us things could get bad. He told us to physically distance, to wear a mask, to test and then contact trace. The Administration did not listen to Fauci. They not only failed to do enough, but they actively encouraged Americans to ignore medical advice.

How bad is it? It was bad before. Now it is an unfolding nightmare. Fauci has now gone from a message of prevention to a rambling voice of doom:

Who is Dr Anthony Fauci, the US's trusted voice on coronavirus ...
Covid-19 is really serious!

“Really not Good.”

“Record breaking cases.”

“Knee deep in the first wave.”

“We never really got down to where we wanted to go.”

Watch Mark Zuckerberg talk live with epidemic expert Dr. Anthony ...
Can you hear me? Is this mic on?

“We went up, never came down to baseline, and we are surging back up.”

“It is a serious situation that we have to address immediately.”

Dr Fauci shouts impotently into the void as Americans die.

People around the world are sick because we are in the midst of a very serious global pandemic. People are dying. People are too sick to work. The civil order is breaking down.

The situation is worst in the richest country in the world. Don’t get us wrong. All nations are suffering from the Covid-19 global pandemic. Countries with vulnerable populations and a lack of financial resources and medical infrastructure are truly suffering. No country, however, is as willfully determined to suffer as much as the United States of America. They suffer only because they refused to heed advice and instead embraced politicization of an illness.

There are nearly 12 million confirmed cases of Covid-19 around the world. Just 12 million out of 7.5 billion total humans, and it has brought the globe to a screeching halt.

Klaatu warns not to tempt him.

Nearly 3 million of those confirmed cases are in the U.S., where at least 131,000 people have died already. That is 3 million confirmed cases out of a population of over 300 million. Just 3 million confirmed cases have brought the United States of America to its knees.

That is the phrase that CDC Director Dr Robert Redfield used when testifying to the House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing. Redfield claimed that Covid-19 had “brought this nation to its knees”.

A commander-in-chief who cannot do the job 'must resign ...
Redfield was a controversial Trump pick to lead the CDC.

What does that mean, exactly?

For starters, it means there are currently more than 40,000 new confirmed cases per day. Fauci famously warned that this increase in cases could soon reach 100,000 new cases per day.

That. is. a. LOT. of. people.

It also means that the U.S. is on the brink of being unable to care for the numbers of people who are sick.

In Florida, 43 hospitals no longer have ICU beds available.

As staffing levels decline, a Disaster Medical Assistance Team has been sent to Arizona by the federal government

Contact tracing is no longer considered possible in the southern U.S.

States start to lockdown again.

From the beginning, Fauci has promoted a program of physical distancing to slow the spread. Yet, people have largely ignored this advice. In the beginning, many people were willing to participate, but then people who are unwilling or unable to come to terms with the reality of a global pandemic began to reject physical distancing.

“Covid-19 is a hoax.”

“The elderly are willing to die for the economy.”

“Covid is just a flu.”

“Physical distancing is socialism.”

“Dr Fauci is involved in a sinister conspiracy.”

“No, we won’t wear a mask!”

Fauci looks as though there is no hope.

All of these attitudes contributed to the unfolding horror that is currently taking place. Even worse, these attitudes were encouraged by the President of the United States, who after a false start, ultimately chose to ignore the spreading virus and to scapegoat others.

“We need to live with it.” is the new White House strategy.

It appears that we are rapidly moving towards an ‘every person for oneself’ situation. It might even be the time to start stocking up on toilet paper again. Things are going to change, and they will change fast.

Keep wearing that mask.

Trump condemns CDC for lack of coronavirus testing, blames Obama
What do Fauci and Redfield discuss in private? Probably how Trump does not listen to them or heed their advice.
